Supported the early-stage development of a chemical dosing program for offshore water injection wells. The project aimed to mitigate corrosion risks and improve long-term well integrity by evaluating biocide treatment strategies during planned and unplanned shut-in periods.


The Problem

Inspection data from pulled tubing revealed elevated corrosion in water injection wells, with localized pitting linked to extended shut-in periods. Stagnant conditions promoted microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC), requiring a dosing strategy to reduce long-term integrity risk and extend asset life.


My Contributions

  • Reviewed tubing inspection data to assess corrosion trends and likely failure mechanisms

  • Researched MIC and potential mitigation approaches

  • Coordinated with vendors to gather technical data, testing results, and safety information

  • Worked with specialized contractors to evaluate biocide options based on performance, compatibility, operational fit, and cost

  • Supported cost analysis and drafted initial dosing recommendations
